UVM Extension Grain Research Tour

  • 28 Jun 2016
  • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (EDT)
  • Alburg, VT, USA

The University of Vermont Extension Northwest Crops and Soils Program (NWCS) in collaboration with Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) and Northern Grain Growers Association (NGGA) would like to invite you to the 4th Annual Grain Research Tour!

There are over 1,000 plots of wheat, barley, oats, heirlooms, and dry beans. We also have small grain trials on evaluating biocontrol of head blight, organic weed control strategies, green manure under- seeding, and winter barley planting date and fertility studies. Not to mention the cool equipment we have, including our new band seeder (pictured above)!

In addition, we will be discussing common small grain and dry bean plant diseases and insect pests. We’ll demonstrate scouting techniques and have “cheat-sheets” available to help with identification.
