Travel Old City where taverns, breweries and malt houses abounded in the days when Philadelphia was the nation’s largest seaport and largest English speaking city outside of London.

Registration is closed

Take time for some travel and lose some shoe leather in Old City where taverns, breweries and malt houses abounded in the days when Philadelphia was the nation’s largest seaport and largest English speaking city outside of London.

General Ticket: $15 Includes 1 Beer Ticket

Begin at Philadelphia’s City Tavern, a faithful recreation of an original 18th century tavern. Pennsylvania Brewery Historian Rich Wagner will bring colonial-ear tavern lore alive and show where the city’s first dozen or so breweries were concentrated long before the nineteenth-century Brewerytown emerged from the wilderness. Not to mention Anthony Morris, second mayor of Philadelphia, and brewer and maltster whose firm became the Perot Malting Co., “Oldest Business House in America, “having been founded in 1687.
